The look on Loki’s face here is proof to me that he believes negative attention is better than no attention, particularly when it comes to Thor.
More than even looking afraid, he looks hopeful and vigilant: “he’s finally acknowledging my existence again. Anything is better than tepidity.”
Because you know what they say: The opposite of love is not hate, but apathy.
